Your Instructor Billy Roues

Billy reedsA published songwriter and seasoned performer, Billy Roues has had the great fortune to have played, written and recorded with many of his musical heroes. Some of the highlights of his career include jamming with B. B. King at the Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland in July 2002, working in the studio with Johnny Johnson (Chuck Berry’s late piano player and bandleader), writing and recording with the Hall of Fame soul songwriter, Dan Penn, and his keyboard genius partner, Spooner Oldham, and sharing the stage and/or bill with Albert Collins, Buddy Guy, Son Seals, Luther Allison, Lenny Kaye, Howlin’ Wolf, Lonnie Mack, Vassar Clemens, Pinetop Perkins, David Bromberg, Wayne Kramer and The Sun Rhythm Section, to name a few.

His current bands include the reunited neo rockabilly band Finn & the Sharks, of which he was a founding member, the Rockin’ Cajun-Zydeco hybrid, UpSouth Twisters (formerly Lucky 7), and alt country band, Big Jim Wheeler & Wheels of Fire. His label, UpSouth Recordings, features CDs by four bands that Billy writes, produces and plays with. Many of their songs have been featured in films, videos and television productions seen worldwide. Billy has been teaching guitar, bass and songwriting privately for decades and is currently in his 6th year as Songwriting/Guitar Instructor at RCDS.
