RCDS and Chef Bobo Welcome Rose Walker
It’s not just culinary talent that makes the RCDS lunch program unusual. It is unique because of the attention paid to fresh ingredients and nutritious, well-balanced menu planning. Most foods are made from scratch cooked they way they should be, slowly and with care. This tradition will continue.
Recently, Head of School Dr. Brian Mahoney appointed Rose Walker, a protégé of Chef Bobo and graduate of the French Culinary Institute, as Executive Chef. This appointment maintains the School’s focus on developing a healthy
meal program.
Rose was a colleague of Chef Bobo, the Executive Chef at Calhoun School in New York City and the guiding light behind this program, for 4 years at Calhoun. While she and Chef Bobo made an instant connection. Chef Bobo describes Rose as a “hard worker with an impeccable palet.”
This coming year Rose wants to prepare food that is healthy but enjoyable. She also feels that it is important that students feel welcomed in the Cougar Café. “This next year will be a success if students enjoy their food and eat their vegetables,” states Rose. Dr. Mahoney and Chef Bobo are both excited about the upcoming year and the expected contributions that Rose will be making to the school.
