Middle and Upper School

We are pleased that you are considering RCDS for your child, and we look forward to meeting with you. Please use the checklist to guide you through the application process.

In reviewing the admissibility of each candidate, the Admissions Committee considers the following criteria:

  1. Admission interview and a School visit
  2. School records (complete transcript[s] and standardized testing scores)
  3. Two teacher recommendations
  4. A school recommendation
  5. An assessment of the student¹s ability
  6. How would the student benefit and contribute to the RCDS community?

To determine this, we ask: Will RCDS nurture in the student a strong sense of self-esteem and will s/he foster a sense of responsibility for the well-being of the entire community?

RCDS recognizes that some students have different learning styles. Although the school has learning specialists on our faculty, it does not offer a special education program.

The school may provide limited modifications to its regular school program that will encourage a student’s independent studies, service in the local community, and special or unique extracurricular activities.

Admissions decisions and enrollment contracts will be sent to parents on March 10, 2010. They will be expected to return the contract along with a non-refundable deposit of $2,500 by March 28, 2010. Because RCDS has rolling admissions, families may be notified earlier.

The normal entry date is the beginning of the school year in September. When it is appropriate, students may enter in mid-year. Usually this occurs at the beginning of the second quarter (after Thanksgiving) or in January at the mid-year mark in the public school.

Rockland Country Day School admits students without regard to race, religion, national origin, gender or sexual orientation.
